Hope Lifts the Disheartened

“Hope lifts the disheartened into the “Son Light,” and a brighter tomorrow.” When all seemed lost, and death was near, Jesus heard the cry of a sinner and showed him mercy. In that moment of truth, the theft hanging on the cross next to Him, surrendered his wretched life over to hope. Hope in the healing power of God’s Grace. Hope in a brighter tomorrow. He did not argue or try to justify his life of sin or that of the other theft. Instead, with a heart of repentance, he confessed his transgressions. “We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve.” Luke 23:41. There as he was anointed in the Son Light, this outcast from society, experienced God’s, unconditional love. Perhaps the only love he had ever known. “Hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit” Romans 5:5 NIV. His final words to his Saviour were not words of hopelessness, but rather of faith. Faith in Christ’s resurrection. This thief’s conversion became a witness for all of mankind, as he uttered these final words. “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Luke 23:42 NIV.
Hope is much more than a feeling. For feelings can change with the wind, where hope is steadfast. A shield that covers us with courage and marches us forward when fear would send us fleeing. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6.
Can any sinner, no matter how terrible their sin, be saved? Yes.
“He gave himself for us to set us free from every kind of lawlessness…” Titus 2:14.
