Nighttime -by Lois Macdonald

Nighttime spills across the busy canvas of our minds, like thick black ink; blotting out yesterday’s chapter, as it searches for a brand-new page. It is behind the velvet curtains of twilight where visions and dreams are given birth and nursed under its starlit skies. In the still of the night, unsettled thoughts evaporate into waves of luxurious calm, and the moon welcomes in sleep. Here in the “unknown,” the artist can embrace all night’s mystery and possibilities, then begin his next masterpiece. For the voyager seeking truth and meaning of life, he must travel through the lens of their Creator to understand the inner workings of the heart. Honesty is the key that opens its hidden sanctuary, where deception is banned, and the voice of fear is silenced, all done in the name of love. “He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings, you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield… You will not be afraid of the terror by night, …” Ps. 91:4-5.  “Indeed, he… will neither slumber nor sleep. For, The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.” Psalm 121:4-6.

Nighttime prepares our hearts for worship. The still of the night allows us to hear the voice of God. One “Holy Night,” Love came down to earth to save us.
