God’s Love Is My Song -by Lois Macdonald

There was a sweet time not so long ago when we gave ourselves permission to stop and smell the daisies. To pause before daybreak and listen to nature’s melodious “dawn chorus.” When the sky fills with birds and begins its opening symphony. Leaving us utterly speechless and so moved by the harmony of God’s love, that we lay bare our hearts and souls, and worship Him. “Your love, God, is my song, and I’ll sing it! I’m forever telling everyone how faithful you are.” Psalm 89:1. This is the song of nature. This too is my song.
When was the last time you just burst into song, whistled a tune, or spontaneously clapped and cheered like an uninhibited child?  When you stood silent and worship? As we race through life at break-neck speed, we seem to be reeling off course. Busyness and pride have often taken control. If we are forever trying to please people, but feeling exhausted and resentful, it is ego’s doing. Or when we refuse to delegate chores at home or projects at work because we think no one else can do the job as well, that is pride’s signature. And how tragic it is to witness someone we love to work to the point of breaking to acquire more and better possessions. The things that can never replace the stolen moments of family togetherness, that pride has robbed them of. Stress will be the memory left framed on the family mantle. Perhaps today is the day to give yourself permission to stop and smell the daisies? To invite God to take over the reigns of your life. “He has made everything beautiful in its time…there is nothing better…than to be joyful and to do good as long as they [we] live; also, that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God’s gift to man.” Eccle. 3:10-13. This is His gift of love. A sweet time, when we give ourselves permission to stop and smell the daisies. To pause before daybreak and listen to nature’s melodious “dawn chorus.” When the sky fills with birds and begins its opening symphony. Leaving us utterly speechless and so moved by the harmony of God’s love, that we lay bare our hearts and souls, and worship Him.  Our daughter Brie recorded this wonderful favorite as a teenager. The amazing arrangement was done by my brother James McEachern. Photography by Justin Macdonald
